Forensic Studies alumnus and Certified Fraud Examiner William R. Carrigan was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Securities Division of Vermont’s Department of Financial Regulation in July 2016.

William joined the securities division in 2007. Most recently, he served as Director of Examinations and Enforcement before being promoted to Deputy Commissioner. His experience and expertise in the field were deemed “invaluable” by his predecessor.

Deputy Commissioner Carrigan earned his Master of Science in Forensic Studies with a concentration in Law and Investigations from Stevenson University Online in 2014. He attributes his advancement to his experience at Stevenson. William states, “The coursework at Stevenson is so relevant to what I do in my position because the faculty have real-life experience, and welcomes the opportunity to share it with their students. That is what makes the Forensic Studies program so beneficial and practical.”
