Psychology News

RISE is hosting the Sadie Hawkins' dance! They are asking ladies to ask out a date to the dance. It is not gender specific to who a girl or girl identifiers may ask to the dance. They are aiming to break barriers and have fun! Tickets go on sale Monday, November 14th at the Rock for $2. There will be Jamaican food and music by Stevenson's own Mark Moody. The doors open at 9 PM. See you there!

Stevenson's psychology department was instrumental in another annual installation of STEM week. STEM week is dedicated to the hard sciences, running from November 4th-13th. On Friday, Psychology faculty Dr. Richard Metzger and Dr. Ingrid Tulloch assisted in giving speeches for an event titled "This Is Psychological Science," in which both faculty talked about the field and its shift towards more concrete fields of science.

RISE's event series continued with the Psychology of a Black Man hosted by Dr. Leary. The impassioned and informed Dr. Leary spoke about his experience while extending it to the black experience and psychology. With a high student turn out, there is no doubt that this event was a success.

Students gathered to listen as their fellow colleagues became surrogates for the candidates of the current election cycle. Larry Fort represented Hillary Clinton, Nick Kelly represented Trump, and Malik Mohammed represented Jill Stein. The night saw emblazoned verbal combat between the student surrogates, stirred on by moderators such as Dr. Tulloch and Dr. Boulton. In the end, in an almost prophetic warning, Stein and Clinton split the vote as Trump ran away with victory.
