AIGA Baltimore held its annual Ink & Pixels Student Design Conference at Stevenson in the new School of Design building. Ink & Pixels, is one of the area’s largest events that is focused on helping students and recent graduates prepare for a career in design.

VCD Associate Professor Sarah Joy Verville gave a presentation on “Creating a Killer Digital Portfolio” at the conference. VCD Alumna Christina Bittinger Melito, who is now the Senior Designer at Frank. Strategic Marketing, lectured on “Landing a Job 101.” Jen Dodson, Chief Creative Officer at Adashmore Creative, talked about “Making Sure The Price is Right.” The keynote presentation, “Reinvent Yourself: Commit to Being Flexible,” and was given by Cory Hudson, Senior Creative Director for AOL Networks/Advertising.com

Students from Stevenson and other regional institutions presented their portfolios to numerous regional design professionals and received constructive, one-on-one evaluations in the afternoon. Attendees practiced their interview skills and gathered honest feedback about their portfolios and resumes to help them prepare to embark on careers in the design industry.
