Film and Moving Image News

Students in our new second-year FMI202 ("Cinematography II: Color") - a continuation of last semester's FMI201 ("Cinematography I: Black & White") - taught this semester by Exsul Van Helden (as was FMI201), continue to work with our new Canon 6D DSLR cameras on some more interesting projects. Here, they recreate three stills from previously produced color moving-image productions. In order, top to bottom, are photos (paired with the source image) by Stevenson Film and Moving Image Sophomores Nate Brubaker, Danny Crapanzano and Kara Stone.

9 Stevenson Film/Video students attended the annual SXSW Festival in Austin, TX, as part of their Special Topic course, "Emerging Trends in Digital Media and Film." Pictured, above, from left to right, are Ben Block, Tariq Clark, Chelsea Clough, Anthony Manning, Malachi Broadus (kneeling in front), Theo Booker, Ryan Russell (peeking out from behind Theo), Ben Rossen and Travis Francis. A great time was had by all - we were there March 14-21 - and much was learned. Here's looking ahead to SXSW 2016. Who's with me?

For more photos of the group and of the events I attended at the festival, check out my SXSW album on Flickr. And if you want to see what I thought of the films I watched, you can check out one of my seven posts from SXSW, as listed below:

Stevenson Film and Moving Image students enrolled in FMI204 - "Broadcast Production" - visited WBAL-TV today with their instructor, Stevenson alumnus Evan Dahne, owner and operator of Northside Productions. It was a great opportunity for them to see how the work they're doing in class translates to real-world experience.

Thanks to Stevenson AVCD student Tré Seals, we have a new logo. We already have buttons to hand out, and will soon have t-shirts. Stay tuned!

We also have some new work up on our Vimeo site.

Check out the 5 new promotional videos from the VID321 "Sponsored Video" class, and 6 new beginning videos from the FMI101 "Cinema I: Storytelling" class. Enjoy!
