STEVIE U 72 2020

Stevenson University's FMI Club once again has planned its annual Stevie U 72 Film Festival, screening the movies made during this 72-hour filmmaking event on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 7pm (screening link here, or click on the image, above). Sponsored and presented by Canon USA, this event is open to all.

From 12pm on Friday, November 6, through 12pm on Monday, November 9, participating students, working in small, socially distanced crews, will make, following COVID-19 safety guidelines, short films that they write, produce, direct and edit after receiving the restrictions of genre and other elements at the Friday start. Once the festival closes, our three participating judges––Stevenson University President Eliot Hirshman, Spring 2020 FMI Artist-in-Residence Capella Fahoome, and FMI alumnus DJ Carmon (Class of 2017)––will watch the movies and choose their Top 3, which will each receive donated prizes from our sponsor, Canon. At the end of the screening on Friday, November 13, the virtual audience will then vote on their favorite, which will also receive a prize.

See you on the 13th!

FMI 2020 Showcase Program

The 2020 FMI Senior Showcase is very much still on, albeit virtually! Tune in to our YouTube channel on Tuesday, May 12, at 7pm, to see what films our students have managed to complete in the midst of a global pandemic. [poster designed by Graphic Design major Hannah Ione Steier]

Saturday, October 22, was Stevenson University's Homecoming Day. Check out the cool photos from our School of Design area. In addition to the collage, above, you can see more on our Flickr site.

Tonight was the Senior Showcase for the Department of Film/Video, featuring the work of (pictured above, left to right): Terell Thompson, Ben Rossen (and the rest of the VID325 class), Phil Bromhal, Jessica Goudy, Josh Harmon, Tony Manning, Chelsea Clough, Jake Herman, Corey Manly, Joe Wamba  and Justin Rosen, with Film/Video professor G.T. Keplinger as the evening's MC and instructor of the Spring 2015 FIVTH450 class. Congratulations to all on the terrific films you made, and congratulations to those of you who are graduating.

If you wish to see all of the photos from the evening, check out this album on flickr.

We had a great School of Design party earlier in the day, and there are some wonderful photos from that event, as well.

As per the plan, Stevenson Film/Video students met, this weekend, with two of the filmmakers with films at the Maryland Film Festival:

Saturday, May 9:

Today was the first "Stevenson Student Talk-Back Session," with filmmaker Kris Swanberg, whose movie Unexpected played that evening.

Sunday, May 10:

Today was the second "Stevenson Student Talk-Back Session," with Khalik Allah, whose documentary Field Niggas played later that day.
