John Benam

Local cinematographer John Benam (Charm City, Netflix’s The Keepers and more) presents on his life and work, followed by a Q&A. We will fist screen the pilot episode of "The Keepers." Reception at 5pm. John will also be on campus starting that Wednesday morning, attending a cinematography class and then giving a workshop that afternoon, then attending more classes on both Thursday and Friday.

The students in Chris Ernst's FMI202 Cinematography: Color class have begun shooting scenes on an original music video for the song "The First Ray" by Ernst's instrumental group BELLS≥ . The script for the music video was conceived, written and developed entirely by the class and they will work in smaller production crews to shoot and edit the video. Pictured here shooting a scene using an ARRI Super 16mm film camera are Zoe Maliszewskyj, Mariam Salahvarzi, Erin Orwig, Gloria Hernandez, Jenna Miller, Kyle Whitehead, Chris Ernst and Laura Bowen in front of the camera.

Students in Christopher Ernst's FMI201 - "Cinematography: Black & White" - worked with camera supports, including a Steadicam, a crane, a dolly, etc., in today's class, while also learning how different lenses affect the way the image looks. Here are some photos.

Lisa Gualtieri of Canon came to visit Stevenson's Film & Moving Image Department on Wednesday, September 30, with an EOS C100 cinema camera in tow, plus some great glass (lenses) for cameras we already own. It was a wonderful demo, and we thank Lisa and Canon for their generous donation of time and expertise. For more photos, check out our Flickr site.
