Film and Moving Image News

Date: Nov 2019

STEVIE U 72 2019 PHOTO

On Friday, November 8, 2019, the Department of Film & Moving Image screened the films made during the previous weekend's Stevie U 72 (a 72-hour film festival). The three judges – Stevenson University President Elliot Hirshman, Towson University Professor Jena Richardson and Howard Community College Professor Anthony Hoos – chose three winners, and the audience voted on their favorite, as well. Here is the list of winners, the films of which can be seen on our Vimeo site:

  • 1st Place: Torrey Dolan
  • 2nd Place: Tyler Albizo, Bryan Auman, Nick Hawdon, Kayla Moore and Camden Praisner
  • 3rd Place: Zoe Maliszewskyj
  • Audience Award: Torrey Dolan

The grand prize was an EOS Rebel T6i EF-S 18-55mm from our sponsor, Canon USA. Thanks, Canon! And thanks to the judges and all who participated.

Stevie U 72 2019

Come one, come all, to the November 8 screening (at 7pm, with reception at 6pm), in our Soundstage (SD101) in the School of Design, of the films that will be made this weekend as part of Stevie U 72, our annual 72-Hour Film Festival, run by the FMI Club. Canon is once again the sponsor of the event, offering us a lovely T6i camera as the grand prize. Student filmmakers work not only under the time pressure of writing, filming and editing a film in just three days, but are also given restrictions of genre, props and dialogue. It should be a great show, presided over by a three-judge panel that includes Stevenson University's President, Elliot Hirshman.
