I am still drinking the Kool-Aid of being a part of the world known as New York Fashion Week. And I want to share how months of hard work resulted in 15 minutes of fame!
On Monday, February 15th, 2016, The Art Beam Gallery in Chelsea opened its doors to the fashion world. I arrived to find photographers, the press, buyers, and fashion admirers and entrepreneurs gathered around the runway prepping for the show. While backstage was occupied with models, makeup artists, designers and the show producer with what can best be described as ‘organized chaos’.
Along with 8 other fashion design students, I was there to represent Stevenson University’s fashion design program and show the world that we know fashion and we mean business. As our “Fine Art of Fashion” collection walked down the runway, I realized the significance of my accomplishment, which was followed by many congratulations from fellow students, faculty, friends and family. The collection was flawless, stunning, and mesmerizing, and it created fashion “buzz” in the audience. Seeing my garment on the runway during NYC Fashion Week felt so unrealistic until it actually happened; and it did, and I have pictures to prove it.
Rise and shine fellow students – I promise NYC Fashion Week will make all the work in Stevenson’s fashion design program worthwhile.
