Hello! Hey! Hi! Wassup! (I can never figure out which greeting to use so. . . why not use all of them?!)

As you can see from the title, I’m Josie, the new student assistant for the amazing English department! (And the crowd in my head goes wild, LOL.) Anyways, I’m very excited for this school year! I’m also very grateful for the opportunity (has anybody else spelled “opportunity” wrong? I used to spell it “oppurtunity” for the longest time) to be working in this department.

Two weeks before moving in freshman year, I was a Business Administration major. Last July, I attended a conference and had a revelation that I need to write, I need to be an English major. So, I called my success coach and asked her how I can change my major and voilà! I’m now an English major!

A lot of people ask me— as they do most English majors— what I want to do with my major? They ask stuff like “Do you wanna be a teacher? A journalist?” I answer “no” to all of them. So, what do I want to do with my major? My huge goal is to be an award-winning and New York Times bestselling author! I’m interested in copywriting at a creative agency, being a TV show writer, writing for publications, you know, cool stuff.

Over the summer, I sent my poetry collection manuscript (more like a chapbook, I guess) to several local publishers. I haven’t heard from them yet, but I will be reaching out to more soon. If you all have been following the English Department’s social media, you would see that I’m also one of the Assistant Literary Editors for the school’s online literary magazine The Greenspring Review (GSR for short). I’ve also published some of my work in there as well. I also have a blog/portfolio where I share my thoughts and ideas, creative writing and publications. So yeah, boss moves [insert “flexing muscle” emoji] LOL. Additionally, I’m pursuing a professional minor in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development in order to eventually own and operate several businesses.

So that’s me! So many great things will be happening this year. I hope you tune in to this blog for news and updates on events to connect with people and have fun!
