On Friday, September 10, the School of Education hosted a Welcome Back Social from 4:00-5:30 in the Claire Moore Room on the Owings Mills Campus.
Twenty-seven students ranging from entering freshman to senior interns joined faculty members Dr. Christine Moran, (Dean of the SOE), Dr. Beth Kobett (Chair of the Education Department), Dr. Clotile Galbraith, Dr. Bob Pelton, and Dr. David Nicholson. Students introduced themselves by playing two ice-breaker games and each received a new SOE t-shirt (in Stevenson green).
“It was a great time to get together and see each other in person instead of online!” remarked Kayla Moran (’22).
A raffle was held for prizes that any preparing teacher can use, such as books, markers, and other surprises. The students also created crafts to express themselves and decorate their rooms or classrooms. Snacks and music enlivened the atmosphere.
“I loved getting to connect with both new and familiar faces,” said Shannen O’Connell (’22). “I really had missed seeing our community in person.”
In addition, students learned about the activities of the TOT (Teachers of Tomorrow) Club and KDP (Kappa Delta Pi) International Education Honors Society and how to join.
“This event was so refreshing,” Amaya Barboza (’22) commented. “It felt like old times again and it was simply so great seeing everyone in person, some for the first time ever!”
