Seven interns from Stevenson University have been selected as a 2016 Maryland Teacher of Promise, based on high academic achievement and recognition of pre-service teaching ability.

The interns participated in the Teachers of Promise Institute held on April 15: Victoria Abrecht, Jessica Arminio, Megan Donovan, Stephanie Miele, Megan Polis, David Minh Pho, and Gina Weber.

During the Institute, interns met leaders in education, including state and national teachers of the year, the state superintendent, and executives from sponsoring organizations, as well as previous TOP teachers. One of the many activities included in the day-long institute was a new teacher panel discussion, featuring two recent Stevenson University graduates: Janel Frazier (Class of 2013) and Alexandra Weyforth (Class of 2013).

As part of the institute, each intern was paired with an award-winning veteran teacher, who will act as an online mentor during the transition from senior intern to practicing teacher. The School of Education congratulates these outstanding teacher candidates.
