Senior interns in the School of Education have been visiting local schools as an assignment in the Philosophy of Education course. Each school was selected to represent a particular philosophy of education.

Interns Tori Eyler, Alex Smink, Liz Lau, and Jessie Stedding visit the Young School.

To prepare for the visits, the interns researched each school and shared their findings in round-table discussions with peers. During the visits, interns have been observing instruction in the school settings, organizing their notes in response to several probing questions. In reflection papers following the visits, interns describe their observations and relate specific examples to topics studied in the course. Observations and reflections will be compared with peers who visited other schools in a second series of round-table discussions. Visiting the different schools and sharing their experiences engages interns in active inquiry into philosophy of education in action.
