The School of Education congratulates Beth Kobett, Ed.D., on her promotion from Associate Professor to Professor of Education.
Dr. Kobett began her career at Stevenson University (then Villa Julie College) as an adjunct in 1998, became a full-time Assistant Professor in 2009, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017. In addition to teaching mathematics and math methods courses, Dr. Kobett teaches the First Year Seminar and serves as Director of the FYS program. Dr. Kobett has twice received the Rose Dawson Excellence in Teaching Award, once as an adjunct in 2003 and a second time as a full-time professor in 2013. She is past president of the Association for Maryland Mathematics Educator Association and is an elected Board Member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Dr. Kobett is the author or co-author of numerous articles, book chapters, and books (including lead author of a three-book series), is a prominent presenter at state, regional, and national conferences, and conducts professional learning workshops and webinars. Dr. Kobett has established a student-mentoring program with a local school (recognized as a University Club) and a Beginning Teachers mentoring program.
