The School of Education is pleased to offer a Math Task Writing Camp this summer.
Math Task Writing Camp is a two-day event for Education students, faculty, and alumni to brainstorm, create, and write problem-based learning tasks to build a Mathematics PBL Task Bank resource for Stevenson University students and other interested educators. Each task will be linked to a national mathematics Common Core Standard.
Math Task Writing Camp will be held June 21 and 22 on the Stevenson University Greenspring campus from 9:00am-2:00pm. Any person interested in working collaboratively with an exciting group of alumni, teachers, and students is welcome to attend at no cost to create engaging, relevant, and interesting mathematics lessons for students in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade.
Participants will engage in professional learning from expert task writers, participate in solving mathematics tasks, explore the qualities of a good mathematics task, and write PBL tasks in small groups or with partners. Participants will have an opportunity to build a supportive mathematics teaching community with people who believe in the power of mathematics teaching through problem solving and problem-based learning.
