The Human Services Club volunteers at the Color Run at Camden Yards on Saturday, Nov. 15. The Color Run supports the Cool Kids Learning Center, which sponsors academic, social, and emotional programs for kids with cancer. The club had a blast at this colorful event. In attendance were: Emily Mills, Jessica Mahla, Brittney Sommerfeld, Aliki Argiropoulos, Ayanna Crawley, Jonathan Hart, Amanda Erickson, Yasmine Byrd, Avery Kershaw, Emily Miccariello, and Professor Lauri Weiner.

At the 2014 conference of the National Organization for Human Services in October in Las Vegas, Nevada, students Chris Ambrose and Morgan Burns presented a poster on Stevenson’s Career ArchitectureSM model. Human Services professionals from across the country were in attendance and spoke with Chris and Morgan about how this innovative model is applied in the Human Services program. Faculty members, Tom Swisher and Lauri Weiner both presented sessions at the conference.
The Human Services Club sent 6 members to Our Daily Bread in Baltimore to help prepare and serve food at the Christopher Place dinner service on October 10, 2014. The men who attend this dinner are currently receiving education, training, and support because they were previously homeless in the Baltimore area. The club members who attended were Aliki Argiropoulos, Natalie Bohlen, Michelle Cohen, Margaret Zimmermann, Amanda Erikson, and Megan Kotrla.
The Stevenson University Human Services Department hosts the 2013 National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) annual conference in Baltimore at the Pier 5 Hotel. Four students who won the Student Professional Development Award attend along with faculty. Prof. Lauri Weiner coordinated the conference and Stevenson University was one of the sponsors.
