Chemistry and Biochemistry News

Warmest wishes to our two Graduate Assistants, Shelby Litz (left) and Andrew McGregor (right), who completed a year as a graduate assistants in the School of the Sciences.  Both Shelby and Andrew were in the BS (Chemistry)/ MS (Forensic Sciences) program and received their BS in Chemistry in May 2015 and their MS in Forensic Sciences in May 2016.  They are pictured here, with Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Melissa Craig, as they were honored for their great work at the School of the Sciences May Celebration!

The School of the Sciences celebrated our seniors at the annual May Celebration.  All seniors and their families were invited to join faculty and staff for the event.  Food, awards, a senior slide show and presents made the event spectacular!

Students who completed a research or internship project in the spring of 2016 gathered to showcase their posters at the semi-annual School of the Sciences Poster Session.  The students, seniors who completed off-campus research and internship Capstones, as well as sophomores and juniors who engaged in on-campus research, all did a fabulous job.  We were proud to welcome off-campus mentors, family members, alumni, friends and guests from across the campus community.

Congratulations to biochemistry senior, Nicole Heil, on winning the President of the Year award for her leadership in the Anime Club.  Nicole was recognized for her exemplary leadership and commitment to the values of Stevenson.  She is shown here receiving her award from President Manning.

Congratulations to the American Chemical Society (ACS) Club for winning SU's Outstanding Club Award for the second year in a row!  This award "recognizes an organization that has contributed to the Stevenson Community through excellence in meeting the four foundations of civic engagement, education, personal development, and collaborative leadership."  What a great end to such a fun and successful year!
