Chemistry and Biochemistry News

Students in Dr. Tracey Mason's Instrumental Analysis class volunteered as judges for 4th and 5th grade projects at a Science Fair at Gunpowder Elementary school in Baltimore.  The SU students had a great time speaking and sharing their love of science with the elementary school students!

Congratulations to biochemistry senior, Alicia Greene, on being nominated for Student Employee of the Year!  Alicia has been working in the School of the Sciences Dean's Office during this academic year and has done a phenomenal job!  She is shown here with Mrs. Melissa Craig, Administrative Assistant in the School of the Sciences.

Everyone is very excited about our new building on the Owings Mills North Campus.  Here are some pictures of our new labs!  They are going to be amazing!

(Graduate Assistant Shelby Litz was part of our tour and we couldn't resist including her in one of the pictures!)

This week is Undergraduate Research Week, a week sponsored by The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).  CUR is spotlighting the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), which took place last week and over the weekend at the University of North Carolina Asheville.  The mission of NCUR is to promote undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education.  Biochemistry seniors Ciara Faupel, Alicia Greene and Zoe Singman all presented their research at the conference.  Special thanks to SU for funding this amazing trip!

Three biochemistry majors are part of a group of faculty and students who represented Stevenson at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research at UNC-Asheville. Our students will be among the 4,000 from across the country presenting their research.
