Chemistry and Biochemistry News

Congratulations to biochemistry freshman, Sehlah Butt, who is very proud to have just become a United States citizen!  Here's her story:

I was born in Pakistan and then moved to Saudi Arabia with my parents and little sister. In 2001, my family and I moved to America for a free and great education and opportunities you won't find anywhere else. Fifteen years later, on April 8th 2016, I became a United States citizen. It was such a memorable day and it is an honor to live in such a diverse and growing nation.

Congratulations to chemistry senior, Malik Naanaa, on receiving the Maryland Section ACS Student Award for Stevenson University. Malik was chosen for this honor because of excellence in academics and his exemplary service as president of the ACS Club.  Malik received his award at the March Maryland Section ACS meeting and faculty members, Mrs. Diane Payne, Dr. Sara Narayan and Dr. Ellen Roskes, were there in Malik's support.

Students in Dr. Tracey Mason's Instrumental Analysis class volunteered as judges for 4th and 5th grade projects at a Science Fair at Gunpowder Elementary school in Baltimore.  The SU students had a great time speaking and sharing their love of science with the elementary school students!

Congratulations to biochemistry senior, Alicia Greene, on being nominated for Student Employee of the Year!  Alicia has been working in the School of the Sciences Dean's Office during this academic year and has done a phenomenal job!  She is shown here with Mrs. Melissa Craig, Administrative Assistant in the School of the Sciences.

Everyone is very excited about our new building on the Owings Mills North Campus.  Here are some pictures of our new labs!  They are going to be amazing!

(Graduate Assistant Shelby Litz was part of our tour and we couldn't resist including her in one of the pictures!)
