Chemistry and Biochemistry News

Warmest congratulations to Chris Toth on his graduation with a BS in Biochemistry and on his winning the John Mitchell Graduation Award!  This award is given to the graduating senior who best exemplifies John Mitchell's qualities of scholarship, civility and service.

Faculty and Staff in the Chemistry Department were excited to share our graduating seniors’ special day with their friends and family.  Here are some of our favorite pictures.

The Chemistry Department wished warm congratulations to our chemistry and biochemistry graduates at the May Commencement.  Students and faculty gathered right before the ceremony for a departmental graduation picture.  Our students have bright futures ahead of them:  some have jobs in industry and some are continuing their education in graduate school in pharmacy, physical therapy, medicine, forensic science and chemistry.

Faculty wished the students well in the words of Henry David Thoreau:

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”

All senior members of Gamma Sigma Epsilon (GSE), the Chemistry Honor Society, were corded by the society's officers at the School of the Sciences May Celebration.  Congratulations to this group of students whose academic performance in their chemistry classes and in their general studies was exemplary!

Congratulations to Biochemistry senior, Alicia Greene on being awarded the Joseph A. Brusini Excellence in Science Award at the School of the Sciences (SOS) May Celebration.   This very high honor is given each May to the graduating senior in the SOS who has best demonstrated exemplary work in the research capstone course and shown great promise for success in the sciences.  Congratulations Alicia- we're so proud of you!
