A students versus faculty basketball challenge was held last Friday, the third in a semesterly series of matchups. Last spring and fall, the faculty prevailed in matches of ultimate Frisbee and beach volleyball respectively. This year the students won 62-50 and earned bragging rights until next time. Congratulations students!

Some highlights of the event were the exploding ping pong fountain, liquid nitrogen ice cream and a non-Newtonian fluid pool. If you would like to see live video and more coverage of the event, visit the SOS Facebook page, or videos on the SU YouTube channel, here and here.

Students who participated in study abroad courses were asked to submit their favorite photos for a Travel and Culture Photo Contest. The winning photo was taken during the Chemistry Department's Herbal Remedies and Medicines course which took place in the 2018 Winter term. Senior Akeweh Fondong was one of 23 students and four faculty that traveled to Ecuador. Akeweh studied herbal medicines and remedies, visiting the Ecuadorian Amazon as part of his travel course experience. His photo, “Enjoying Nature and the Beautiful Weather,” was taken on the Tiputini River.
