BizComm faculty members and mentors to the residents in Western Run Hall, Chip Rouse and Leeanne Bell McManus invited the residents and staff there to participate in the ALS water bucket challenge, with the promise of contributing to the cause in the name of all who took on the icy challenge.
Several members of the BizComm family were on hand as panelists when they met with the departmental First Year Seminar class on Sept. 9, 2014. They were tasked with answering questions about the major, about careers, and about many typical issues that first-year students face. Here, left to right, are Samantha Perillo and Nicolette Stoner, two of the departmental interns; along with Sam Schaefer, I'Quille WIlliams, Sean Waag, Alex Parker, Morgan Mathis and Tyler Turk, the department's third intern who helped to organize the panel. Lots of BizComm students were busy this weekend on the court, on the field, and on the course in several differt sports.
In women's volleyball, Samantha Perillo (left) and Kristen Brooks helped the team towards a sweep of all three opponents in the Greg Giovannazzi Memorial Tournament at Johns Hopkins University.
In football action at North Carolina Wesleyan, senior quarterback Zach Jefferson played the entire second half and was 3-of-4 for 40 yards and one score in the Mustangs' season-opening 40-19 win, according to gomustangsports.com. Jarrett Bragg, Anthony Arcell, Daniel Miller, Andrew Wysoki and Fred Terry also contributed to the victory.
In the Green Terror Challenge at McDaniel College, junior Lanie Swanhart's 7th-place finish at 13:42 in the 3K run helped the Stevenson women to a first-place finish in the run.
May BizComm grad Rachel Guzman (on the right in the photo) was thrilled to let us know that she just accepted a job as the Development Coordinator at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter. Rachel completed one of her internships at the MS Society under the mentorship of former BizComm Katie Amos (who had herself interned there before going full time, and is shown on the left in the photo). What a triumph, Rachel, and best of luck in the new job.
