Interested in learning about a career in the world of sports? Then be sure to attend this year's Sports Industry Symposium  on February 18 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Rockland Banquet Room. Speakers from various careers will be on hand to talk about their careers and answer your questions. It's also a great networking opportunity! The photo above is from the 2014 symposium, during which two former BizComms were featured: Will Beatson, far left, now with Excel Sports Management, and Christina Zizos, on the right, of the Baltimore Orioles. Senior and juniors, it's time to start planning for the upcoming Maryland Career Consortium (MCC) Career Fair on February 20 from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Loyola University of Maryland. The list of registered employers can be found here.  From CareFirst to the CIA to the Walters Art Museum, employers are lining up to grab a space at this highly successful career fair! Other information about the fair and preparing for a career fair can be found on the Career Fair 2015 webpage.

Reserve your seat on the FREE Stevenson shuttle to the fair at Loyola through Stevenson Career Connections. A reservation is not needed for the shuttle ride back to SU. Reserve a seat in SCC through the tab Events - workshops. Photo from an MCC Career Fair held previously at Towson University. - from thrivingtiger.com

BizComm's two "Faculty in the Halls" mentors for the Western Run first-year residence hall, Leeanne Bell McManus and Chip Rouse, welcomed their residents back to school with an ice cream event, "Sundaes on Monday," on Monday, Feb. 2 in the lobby of the residence hall. Students were treated to a make-your-own-sundae bar, and spent some time socializing and welcoming back friends from the fall semester. The RAs were there as well to help out!

The "Faculty in the Halls" mentoring program also includes BizComm Christine Noya, who serves as one of two mentors in Patapsco Hall.  The program is run under the direction of Jeff Kelly, dean of students.

BizComm alum Liz Brooks (class of 2010) will soon begin her new job as the Compliance Specialist for the UMBC Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, moving from her former position as a financial aid counselor. Liz graduated from Stevenson and later received her Master's degree in Organizational Development and Leadership from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. In the photo, Liz is shown at the senior year Business Communication poster presentation session with her poster showcasing her work at CCBC. Congratulations, Liz!

2008 BizComm grad Will Beatson left the NFL to join Excel Sports Management where in April he began to focus on marketing, endorsements, and foundation fundraising opportunities for Excel’s talent in the NFL, MLB, the NBA, the PGA, NASCAR and the entertainment industry.

Prior to his new job with Excel, Will worked with the National Football League and the New York Yankees in the development of national and regional sports marketing efforts and corporate partnerships. We congratulate Will for his wonderful success in the field of sports marketing. Here he is shown at Homecoming a few years back with Associate Professor Stephanie Verni.
