Communication News

Alum Morgan Buckingham ('14) continues her work as an administrative assistant at Arthur Bell CPAs in Hunt Valley, Md. She started as a front desk receptionist following her graduation in 2014, but has since been promoted and given a variety of tasks within the firm. Morgan writes, "They started to use me throughout the firm, so I work with the marketing and executive departments on a variety of projects." In addition to her administrative duties, Morgan plans events, organizes continued professional education (CPE) logistics within the firm, and markets the company. Keep up the great work, Morgan!

Here, Morgan is shown during her internship at Stevenson University in the Office of Marketing and Digital Communications with her supervisor, John Buettner.

Congratulations to freshman Lauren Novsak, one of two newly elected School of Design senators. She is charged with the task of being the bridge between the School of Design and the Student Government. She and her fellow senator will help showcase the department's work to other students at Stevenson University.

The SGA Senate and Executive Board meet once a month to discuss how to improve student relations between programs, departments, faculty, and student activities. What a great start to your career at Stevenson, Lauren!

Congratulations to our own BizComm novelist, Stephanie Verni, who participated in this weekend's Baltimore Book Festival, shown here in the author's tent in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Stephanie's two novels, Beneath the Mimosa Tree and Baseball Girl, have given her significant prominence in the field of self-publishing. Thanks to Stephanie for sharing this great photo!

BizComm alum Gary Gray ('13)  has begun a new job as the Recruitment Coordinator at Howard University. He works with new job candidates and hiring managers to manage the flow of candidates through the recruitment process, from scheduling interviews to bringing new employees on board.  Gary's strong interpersonal communication skills and his engaging personality made him a lock for the position. In the photo, Gary's on the right during his internship at the U.S. Naval Academy in sports marketing, next to his supervisor, Chris Grosse. Congratulations on your new position, Gary!

Biz Comm alum Jamie Schafer continues her work as the Director of Operations with the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce in Towson, Md.  She is responsible for updating and procuring membership, collaborating with the SBRC Board and staff members, managing the front of the office, and planning  networking events, among other things. While she was a student, Jamie interned with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Maryland in outreach and event planning. Jamie also is a blogger for Homemade Bride, LLC.
