Business Communication News

What a night it was for the BizComms who attended the annual Baltimore Business Journal's "Book of Lists" gala at the Center Club in Baltimore on Thursday night, Feb. 5, 2015.  The 10 Business Communication students joined professors Leeanne Bell McManus and Chip Rouse as guests of the BBJ for the celebration, and after their concierge duties were finished, the students were given the chance to mingle and network with the 500+ guests in attendance. Stevenson University was one of the sponsors of the event, and several of Stevensons's administration and staff also attended the gala. The students in the top left photo included Sam Schaeffer, Lanie Swanhart,  Jen Antonelli, Matthew Perry, Ashley Mil, Samantha Hauf, Tara Shishmanian, Leanne Magyar,  Alex Parker, and Conrad Ellis. Congratulations to the students on a terrific job! (Photos by Leeanne Bell McManus)

BizComms might be interested in attending the presentation of CNN political analyst David Gergen on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at 1 p.m. on the Greenspring campus in the St. Paul Companies Pavilion. Gergen  served as an adviser to four U.S. presidents and is a professor of public service and co-director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School. He is in Maryland as a part of the Baltimore Speaker Series, held at the Meyerhoff and sponsored by Stevenson University. (Photo fromomahatownhall.org)

Interested in learning about a career in the world of sports? Then be sure to attend this year's Sports Industry Symposium  on February 18 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Rockland Banquet Room. Speakers from various careers will be on hand to talk about their careers and answer your questions. It's also a great networking opportunity! The photo above is from the 2014 symposium, during which two former BizComms were featured: Will Beatson, far left, now with Excel Sports Management, and Christina Zizos, on the right, of the Baltimore Orioles. BizComm's two "Faculty in the Halls" mentors for the Western Run first-year residence hall, Leeanne Bell McManus and Chip Rouse, welcomed their residents back to school with an ice cream event, "Sundaes on Monday," on Monday, Feb. 2 in the lobby of the residence hall. Students were treated to a make-your-own-sundae bar, and spent some time socializing and welcoming back friends from the fall semester. The RAs were there as well to help out!

The "Faculty in the Halls" mentoring program also includes BizComm Christine Noya, who serves as one of two mentors in Patapsco Hall.  The program is run under the direction of Jeff Kelly, dean of students.
