Commencement, December 2015 -- a day filled with proud moments as SU BizComm professor Heather Harris gave the commencement address to the graduates, 10 of whom were Business Communication students. The group lined up for the traditional photo before the ceremony with their faculty members, above. Dr. Harris glowed as she spoke to the students about needing a navigating system in order to follow their passion, and BizComm graduate Charlie Taylor receives his diploma from President Kevin J. Manning and Tracy Bolt, registrar. It was a day of great celebration and pride.

The Alumni Office at Stevenson once again planned and executed a terrifically successful "Breakfast with Santa" on Saturday, Dec. 12, for alums, staff, faculty and friends to enjoy the Christmas season with Santa! Lots of BizComms stepped up to help out with the fun -- face painting, crafting, and generally being good holiday spirits! Thanks to students Lexi Cohen, Sarah Cullison, Jessica Demko, Kim Hahr, Meagan Hardesty, Megan McSwain, Brendan Reynolds, Fred Terry, and Andrew Wysocki. Great sports and hard workers!

Here's to a great job by sophomore BizComm Gage Markley for his excellent post on the Career Services blog, "5 Career Tips to Get Ahead While You Hibernate." His tips were well researched and written, providing useful information for any job or internship seekers. You can read the entire post here.

Baltimore's Helping Up Mission was the recipient of 150 pairs of socks courtesy of the Business Communication department's service work, Socktober, this fall. Professors Chris Noya and Chip Rouse delivered the socks, purchased in partnership with Walmart, to Barry Burnett in Donor Relations and an assistant, James. Helping Up Mission serves over 500 men a day in the Baltimore area and the socks arrived just in time for the colder weather.

The launching party of '47 House and the Shapiro lecture with Kevin Byrne received awards from NACURH as best social and educational events of the month. Congratulations to the department for their event planning and management, and thanks to the students in the major who nominated them.
