Business Communication News

Sophomore Emily Rosenthal's internship has kept her busy as she works with BizComm professor Stephanie Verni (left) and other members of the department this spring. Emily's work has included everything from scholarly research and resume critiques to composing the seasonal  Business Communique sent out to all the students in the major. She spends a great deal of her time helping Ms. Verni with the work in the Internship Preparation class, working directly with students as they ready themselves for an internship.

Senior Nicolette Stoner is interning this spring with PR guru Edie Brown, owner of Edie Brown and Associates Public Relations. Nicolette has been busy with lots of PR for Feld Entertainment, especially with the circus in town!  From early morning television spots to press releases and social media, Nicolette has been applying her interpersonal and written skills during her internship as she learns the best practices of public relations.

When the call went out that the School of Design's interim dean, Amanda Hostalka, could use some student help staffing the pre-Open House information session table, BizComm students stepped up to help! It meant an 8 a.m. appearance on a Saturday morning in the Owings Mills gym, but these terrific students were willing and ready. They included (from left) Sarah Cullison, Emma Ragon, Siegfried Schmidt, Courtney Hastings, and Katlyn Lamp. Thanks to these students who willingly stepped up to help the School of Design. Senior Allie Nelson (on the right in the photo) is interning with Alison Cuomo, the web portal administrator in Stevenson University’s Office of Marketing and Digital Communications. Allie has made use of her background in information systems as well as her writing and design work in this challenging and ever-changing environment. Many of her duties involve working "behind the scene" on the SU website and information posted there.
