Business Communication News

We just received word from Allie Nelson, who graduated in May, regarding  the start of her career. She writes, "I will be a Junior Application Developer at a small organization, Digital Innovation, in Harford County." Congratulations, Allie! Your minor in information technology as well as your internship work with Stevenson's digital marketing team has certainly prepared you well for this promising career. We are so proud of you!

Take a look at this larger-than-life billboard of Business Communication alum Courtney Hastings, the Mar-Del Watermelon Queen. Courtney's summer has been spent traveling around the East coast as a spokesperson for the organization, promoting healthy eating habits, including local watermelon.  (Photo from Facebook.com)

The under-13 Baltimore Crabs made their way to the Warrior World Series of Lacrosse in Denver, Colorado, coached by SU alum Brad Bartkowiak, husband of BizComm alum Ashley Kline. The Crabs were 5-0 when they faced the Long Island Team 91 in the finals at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium. Congratulations to the young Baltimore Crabs and their coach, a former Stevenson University lacrosse player!

Stevenson's University Advancement team focused on communication issues at their 2105 retreat, under the guidance of Business Communication department chair Chip Rouse. The University Advancement team looked at issues of verbal and non-verbal communication, honed their listening skills, and collaborated to examine their communication strengths and weaknesses during the retreat on July 2, 2015. The group finished the day with celebration, lunch and recreational activities.

The Business Communication faculty and several "OWLs" (Orientation and Welcome Leaders) from the department welcomed the new first-year students of the class of 2019 on Tuesday, June 30. The students received an orientation to university life, met friends in the department, and built their fall schedules.

Their Facebook page is already busy with questions to Admissions and lots of helpful information from the student workers. Thanks to all those who helped make the day a success, especially Dr. Heather Harris, Dr. Deric Greene, Ms. Christine Noya, and student OWLS Will Comotto, Annie McCoach, Shane Messick and Kaitlin Kirkwood. It was a thrilling morning!
