Business Communication News

Lots of BizComms were present on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, as Stevenson attempted to set a Guinness Book world record for the largest excercise ball class. Organized by Morgan Somerville and led by MC McFadden, the 32-minute class was a combination of true exercise, camaraderie, and fun. Whom do you recognize in these photos from Facebook and Flickr?

A hearty congratulations to Associate Professor Stephanie Verni, who receied a "Superstar" ribbon and honor at the final School of Design meeting for her seven long years serving on Faculty Council's  Academic Affairs Committee. Stephanie has spent countless hours vetting new courses, reading through program modifications, and helping faculty members modify course objectives so that they are clear and measurable.

Stephanie will step down from the AAC and begin to serve on the Technology Committee of Faculty Council in its place. Thank you, Stephanie, for your dedication and service above and beyond the call of duty!

Look what SU BizComm found in the lobby of Rockland! A display stand featuring Emily Rosenthal, a career peeer advisor and a rising junior BizComm major. Emily works one on one with students, helping them develop and shape their resumes as well as other career-focused tasks in space in Wooded Way where the offices of Career Services are housed. Congratulations, Emily, for your contributions to Career Architecture! We're so proud of you.

Students in Dr. Deric Greene's Special Topics in Communication course who traveled to Puerto Rico as part of the experiential learning component of the course presented their reflections about the intercultural experience. Through slides and oral presentations, the students reflected on their trip to Puerto Rico with Dr. Greene and Mrs. Christine Noya. They talked about their expectations for the trip, their experiences of culture shock, and their excitement at learning so much in another country. The Business Communication department is proud of their ability to articulate such insightful reflections.

Congratulations to two Business Communication seniors who received their Honors cords to wear at Commencement for their participation in and fulfillment of the requirements of Stevenson University's Honors program. Rosalie Chesley and Tara Shishmanian were among several seniors honred at the May 1  ceremony led by Dr. Virginia Iannone (right), director of the Honors program. The two students participated in a series of Honors seminars, completed a rigorous schedule of experiential learning, and maintained superior GPAs. The department of Business Communication is proud of you both!
