Communication News

Students on the Business Communication Relay for Life team took top honors in the "Family Feud" game that was part of the Relay for Life event held Saturday-Sunday, April 30-May 1. Playing against Phi Sigma Sigma, the winning team included (l-r) Emma Ragon, Andrew ("A.J.") Grimm, Lanie Swanhart, Lauren Novsak, Grace Clark and Corrin Harris. Congratulations! Congratulations to the Business Communication students and faculty who raised over $3500 for Relay for Life with their "BizComms for the Cure" team captained by senior Lanie Swanhart. The walkers gathered for a photo as the event opened on Saturday, April 30, rocking their "Olympics" theme for the event.
Senior Anthony Bunn wanted to develop his management skills during his internship, and what better way to become a manager that to learn from two of the masters? With over 50 years of restaurant experience, Terri and Menelaos Notara have made their small cafe a gourmet haven for Stevenson students and Owings Mills residents.  Anthony has learned the finer points of catering, customer service, food safety and preparation, and management.

The Business Communication department welcomed back three alums for lunch and conversation on Thursday, April 28. Joining the faculty and student guests were Alexis Reid (2009; missing from the photo), Alexa Hiken (2014; second from left), and Frankie Reynolds (2015). They join seniors Lanie Swanhart (left) and Megan Donahue for a photo after lunch.

The "Lunch Lessons" initiative has been enormously successful since its inception in 2012, with 45 alums returning to campus to share their experiences and offer advice. Joining the group from time to time are John "Jamie" Myers and Allison Humphries, from Stevenson's Alumni Office, to meet and greet the returnees.

Congratulations to the eight Business Communication majors who are finishing out their NCAA Division III athletics careers in 2016. They were honored for their achievements at the annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 1, 2016. They include (l-r, top to bottom) Lanie Swanhart, Andrew Wysocki, Pat Candon, Connor Skeen, Chris McKneely, Emily Soller, Allison Smith, and Conrad Ellis. (Photos from gomustangsports.com)
