Communication News

Junior Corrin Harris has been on a public relations whirlwind since the start of her internship with PR guru Edie Brown. With major clients including Feld Entertainment, which books most of the acts coming into the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, including Disney on Ice, ArenaCross and Monster Jam, Edie Brown and Associates takes the lead in developing media strategies for every client. From early morning television coverage to media parties, Corrin has learned what it takes to develop a comprehensive PR plan.
Senior Siegfried Schmidt has enjoyed his challenging internship at the Gilbane Building Company in the area of marketing under the mentorship of vice president Michael Crase. Zig's tasks have been many and varied, from working at an actual construction site to taking photographs of some of the company's finished sites. Gilbane is a global integrated construction and facility management services firm, and marketing such a global enterprise requires ingenuity and perseverance, both traits that Zig has developed. The company, located in Locust Point, is a privately held family-owned company.
Senior Amanda Windesheim is interning with HomeCare Maryland, a home health agency that sends experienced care providers including  physical therapists, occupational therapists, skilled nursing professionals, dietitians, medical social workers and home health aides, to provide health services for people who are homebound permanently or  temporarily. Working with Beth Brown, community liaison (shown here on the right) in the area of marketing, Amanda is charged with forming  relationships with referring agencies and developing new and creative marketing strategies.
When asked by members of M.I.L.E. (Stevenson's Male Initiative Leadership and Excellence program) to help out at their cookout in the Quad on Saturday night, Oct. 15, three members of the Business Communication faculty happily agreed. Stephanie Verni, Chris Noya and Chip Rouse took time out from flipping burgers and handing out hotdogs to strike a pose with the M.I.L.E. members who invited them to help: Jarret Bragg and Eddie Bennett. The evening was filled with good food, music, and lots of conversation throughout the event. (Thanks to Stephanie Verni for the photo)
