Senior Andrew Sweeney (right) is learning the ropes of entrepreneurship under the guidance of Scott Westcoat, who not only owns and runs C’Ville Bikes, but who also runs major sporting events under the company name EnviroEvents. Andrew has been involved in the planning of several large-scale events, including the “Sand Duels Beach Soccer Challenge” held yearly in Ocean City, Maryland, which will draw hundreds of players. Andrew’s organizational skills will be put to the test during that weekend!
Senior Nick Singleton's love of books and reading led him to an internship with fiction and nonfiction editor Bruce Bortz, publisher of Bancroft Press. Nick's work includes reading and research, as well as delving into the marketing of publications. His assessments have included a wide variety of genres, and he has surprised himself at times by liking manuscripts that were out of his reading comfort zone. He has thoroughly enjoyed his internship.
Senior Landon Easler was thrilled to be accepted as an intern with the Baltimore Orioles, under the mentorship of Bill Stetka, the alumni director and unofficial archivist. Landon helps Mr. Stetka connect with Orioles alumni in a variety of venues, including during Fantasy Camp in Florida. Landon has done so well that he was accepted into the Orioles Career Introductory Program, which began on Opening Day and will continue through the post-season. Here they are in the stands at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Senior Alex Schoen has been interning at swagdog, a Baltimore company that offers personalized apparel and promotional products. Alex has learned how orders are fulfilled, beginning with working with the customer’s specifications all the way through to delivery. He’s also been busy working on the company’s website to make it more user-friendly. Alex’s design skills have also helped him in examining product lines. Here’s he’s next to Russ White, the company president.
Senior Kris DeJesus (in the photo on the right) has translated his love of sports into an internship in the office of campus recreation under the guidance of Craig LeDuc, the assistant director of campus recreation. Kris has been working on many of the organizational and statistical aspects of the intramural sports program at Stevenson, as well as serving as game day host and often as an official. His interpersonal skills have been valuable in working through student contests. Here, he and his supervisor hold the banner given to each championship intramural sports team.
