Business Communication News

Business Communication alum Brent Hiken (class of 2015) is readying for the Major League Lacrosse season as he suits up for the Atlanta Blaze. This third-year franchise's roster includes mostly Division I stars, but Hiken and fellow Mustang Callum Robinson are among the few Division III standouts. A star faceoff player, Hiken has also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Mustangs. Good luck this season, Brent! (Photo from Facebook/Atlanta Blaze)

Congratulations to the Business Communication interns who, together with other interns in the School of Design, spoke to an audience in the Rockland banquet room  on April 14, 2018, about their experiences in the workplace. The students used PowerPoint slides to communicate what they had learned through the semester at a variety of internship sites. The event was coordinated by Sonya Lawyer, assistant professor of design and the School of Design internship coordinator.

A hearty congratulations goes out to Business Communication alum Brittany Bangert (class of 2010) whose first run at the Boston Marathon was a successful, if soggy, one.

She writes, "I don’t think anyone’s training could have really prepared for those conditions but it was definitely the greatest gut and grit test I’ve ever had... Crossing that line was so gratifying, it’s hard to describe, but the worst was by far the three hours of shivering after. Never been so grateful for a hot shower, warm blanket and hot chocolate. So many of you have reached out - and thanks for that, it means the world and I thought of all of you throughout."

So proud of you, Brittany! She's the one with the orange hat jumping puddles. (Photo from Facebook)

Junior Business Communication major Christine Favata (on the right in the photo) writes that she and her peers had a great time representing Stevenson University as a client of Rails to Trails Conservancy and the Baltimore Greenway Trails Network on Saturday, April 7. The two networks were clients of The Mill, SU's School of Design center for integrated marketing communication. The students were joined at the launch by Business Communication faculty member professor Stephanie Verni, and this semester's Mill class was led by Inna Alesina, assistant professor of art.

Christine is joined by students Paige Cunningham and Kailee Ziegler. (Photo from LinkedIn)
