Communication News

The Business Communication department is happy to announce the first "Lunch Lessons" of the semester. These intimate catered lunches, brunches or dinners include the faculty, a small group of students and several alumni who have come back to talk about their career paths. The event is usually held in the Ratcliffe Room two or three times each semester.

The Business Communication department was thrilled to see alum Brandon Scott who had set up shop recruiting for the YMCA during Stevenson's Welcome Picnic on Wednesday, August 27. Brandon's efforts to fill part-time jobs at the YMCA brought him back to Stevenson as he joined various other vendors at the picnic.

What a delight it was to have a chance to visit with BizComm alum Brian Myers whose job with the Livestrong Foundation as the fundraising and events manager brought him back to a fundraising event in Columbia, Maryland, this week. His career has him traveling to many different venues across the United States to meet with local fundraisers and offer a visual presence of the Livestrong Foundation. Congratulations, Brian, and best of luck as you continue with your career!

Lots of BizComm-ers had a hand in the SMILE move-in for the first-year and transfer students on Thursday, Aug.21. Department chair Chip Rouse drove the water and snack cart around during the day, and junior Chris McKneely was one of the men's soccer players who dedicated their time and muscle to helping tote suitcases and TV sets into the residence halls. The move-in day was full of smiles and tears and lots of hugs. Photo from SU Flickr account.
