BizComm alum Cari Cramer Pierce, whose previous careers included being the principal at Cari Pierce Freelance Writing & Consulting, as well as stints at the Baltimore Sun and the Carroll County Times, has reinvented her career to become a health coach and personal trainer as principal at Flip Your Dog LLC.

Cari is a Certified Personal Trainer and Health Coach through the American Council on Exercise. She's also a Suspension Training Level I Trainer, TRX, and a Kettlebell Level I Trainer, KFIT USA.

She writes, "So after a long career as a marketing consultant, helping companies figure out what they're about and communicating that, I'm now turning my attention to helping people figure out their individual paths to happier, healthier living."

We heard from December 2014 alum Alyssa Yuan that she has accepted a position as Marketing Project Coordinator at Travel Advantage Network, where she interned previously. Established in 1992, Travel Advantage Network is a wholesale vacation accommodations program with exciting resort destinations in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Here Alyssa is shown in her final internship with PR guru Edie Brown.

BizComm grad Alexa Hiken (on the left in the photo) has added a new job to her career stack as a Media Assistant at Media Works, Ltd., an MBE-certified, full-service, 4A's media communications agency whose primary purpose is to increase the power of  media budgets. Here Alexa is shown in her internship at L'Apparenza where she also continues to work as a fashion buyer.

Alum Chelsea Moog (on the left in the photo) has just begun work as an associate producer at Elle Ellinghaus Designs, where she interned as a student. Elle Designs is a wedding and event design studio providing events "outside the cookie cutter mold." Previously, Chelsea was a specialist in Distinguished Events at the American Cancer Society.

Congratulations to Dr. Leeanne Bell McManus, Chip Rouse and Stephanie Verni of the department of business communication! Their co-authored original research paper, "Communication as the Art and Craft of Event Planning," was accepted for presentation at the 2015 Annual Convention of the Southern States Communication Association in Tampa April 8-12.  To learn more about the Southern States Communication Association, click here. On January 24, a team of 18 climbers will assemble in Tanzania, Africa, to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with world-renowned mountaineer, Chris Warner, and friends at Earth Treks in the 2015 LIVESTRONG "Survivor Summit." The team will make the seven-day trek to Uhuru Peak at 19,341 feet and will share stories of their  experiences along the way.

Brian Myers, BizComm graduate and fundraising and events manager for the LIVESTRONG Foundation, will join the climb. He is raising money for cancer patients as well as for a donation to Huntington's Disease research. Our thoughts are with Brian as he prepares for the climb.

Stevenson women's volleyball BizComm senior Samantha Perillo was named the 2014 Middle Atlantic Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Dec. 22. She is the first player from Stevenson to receive the prestigous honor.

Perillo, who graduated with honors in 3 1/2 years on December 15, was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Commonwealth Conference Volleyball Championship. She was also named ECAC South Defensive Player of the Year. Read more about her athletic contributions here. Congratulations to Samantha!
