List of interns for showcase

Cover of Neo-Race RealitiesDr. Heather Harris, professor of communication at Stevenson University, will speak at Bird in Hand, 11 E. 33rd Street, on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The discussion will center around  topics addressed in her latest book, Neo-race Realities in the Obama Era. Other presenters will include Dr. Douglas-Wade Brunton, a media ethnographer, whose interests include the relationship between media and identity; Dr. Omowale Elson, the vice-president for business development at Elson Consulting Group and a professor of communication; and Dr. Zoe Hess Carney, a research and teaching professional whose work focuses on rhetoric and politics.

Dr. Harris is also the co-editor (with Kimberly R. Moffitt and Catherine R. Squires) of The Obama Effect: Multidisciplinary Renderings of the 2008 Campaign, also published by SUNY Press.

Stevenson sponsors management panel

The Office of Career Services welcomed back several Stevenson alums, including two Business Communication majors, for a panel presentation on leadership  in management. Lauren Novsak (second from left), class of 2019, and Nick Farano (far right), class of 2011, joined others on the panel to speak about the idea of management leadership in an effort to address a new professional minor in Management and Organizational Leadership that the university is offering. Business professor Anna Kayes moderated the Nov. 5 event, which was coordinated by career advisor Kelly Fewster.

All faculty and staff members who were enjoying anywhere from 5-35 years of employment were feted at the annual service luncheon, held in the Rockland banquet room on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, and hosted by the office of human resources. From the communication department, Dr. Greene was enjoying his 15th year at Stevenson, while Chip Rouse was at year 35. She offered a few reflections to those attending.
