Congratulations to Andrew Brosky, Marissa May Heuer, Jasmine Elizabeth Mendez-Paredes, Jessica Alexis Mills, Marie-Clare Ofoegbu, Shannon O'Hara, and Jena Ramcharran on their recent induction into Stevenson' chapter of Lambda Pi Eta. Lambda Pi Eta is the official Communication Studies honor society of the National Communication Association. As a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Lambda Pi Eta has more than 500 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide. The six goals of Lambda Pi Eta include the following: 1-Recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in Communication Studies; 2-Stimulate interest in the field of Communication; 3-Promote and encourage professional development among Communication majors; 4-Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of Communication; 5-Establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students; and, 6-Explore options for graduate education in Communication Studies. Senior Marissa Heuer was named to the Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference's First Team in Softball for the 2022 season. According to gomustangsports.com, "Two-time MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week, Heuer appeared in 20 games with 16 starts and 15 complete games. She pitched a total of 113.1 innings, throwing 91 strikeouts. She held a record of 12-4 with two saves during the regular season including, two no-hitters against Eastern (03/19) and Messiah (04/09). Heuer's no-hitter in March against Eastern was the first of her career and the program's first since 2008." (Graphics from gomustangsports.com)
Communication Studies graduate student McKenna Blick was named to the MAC Commonwealth' second team, scoring in every game during her transfer season with the Mustangs, finishing second on the squad in goals, assists, and points. She surpassed the 200-point milestone in the MAC Commonwealth Championship game against York, according to gomustangsports.com


On Saturday, April 23, the Maryland Communication Association held its 38th annual conference hosted by Stevenson University. The Maryland Communication Association (MCA) is a group of communication educators, students, and professionals throughout the state of Maryland. Dr. Heather Harris served as the keynote speaker for the event, and her presentation offered insight into social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, with Dr. Harris sharing examples and citing her extensive research. Students and faculty attended the conference virtually, walking away with information grounded in communication principles and theories. Special thanks to Dr. Lee Krahenbuhl for coordinating the event and to those who attended the conference.
