The Business Communication department’s annual fall service project, SOCKTOBER, collected over 200 pairs of socks that were again delivered to the Helping Up Mission, 1029 E. Baltimore Street. The organization of the project was a joint effort between members of ’47 House (the integrated communications club) and Lambda Pi Eta (the honor society of the National Communication Association). Seniors Sarah Cullison and Lauren Spivey, officers of Lambda Pi Eta, trekked to the mission for delivery of the socks in early December.

Helping Up Mission serves over 500 men a day in the Baltimore area, and the socks arrived just in time for the colder weather. Socks may appear insignificant, but feet are subject to the most wear and tear on the human body so they need protection, especially from the cold and from foot diseases. Thanks, Stevenson community, for your generosity!
