Business Communication News

Keyword: internship

Business Communication senior Meghan Loveless (at right in the photo) recently attended a PRSA speed mentoring event at Loyola University of Maryland with two of her internship managers, Sarah Windham and Jessie Krebs, from Stanley Black and Decker.

Meghan writes, "It was a great experience and opportunity being able to speak with other PR professionals from the Baltimore area. Shout out to Jessie and her team for putting on such an awesome event!" (Photo from LinkedIn)

Congratulations to the Business Communication students who will be interning in the fall semester of 2017!

Senior Siegfried Schmidt is finishing up a year-long internship with the Gilbane Building Company under the mentorship of vice president Michael Crase. Zig's tasks have continued to include work on the marketing side, but he has also been learning the operations side of how project development occurs. Gilbane, a global integrated construction and facility management services firm located in Locust Point, is a privately held family-owned company. Here, Zig and his mentor stop in front of photos of Ravens Stadium, where the company is currently working on a few projects.
Senior Jackie Cooper (on the left in the photo) doesn't seem to mind the commute to Washington, D.C., for her internship at Boston Environmental and Contracting, Inc., in the marketing and corporate communication department. Under the mentorship of Monsio Love Joof, Jackie has been working to renovate the company's website so that it not only is more appealing, but so that it more clearly targets the company's various clients and audiences. Jackie has also produced new marketing materials for the company's communications.
Senior Katlyn Lamp (on the left in the photo) is completing a year-long internship at Sagamore Farms, a lovely rural site in Baltimore county. From the website: "Founded in 1925, Sagamore Farm was developed into a world renowned racing and breeding operation by Alfred G. Vanderbilt, Jr. from 1933 – 1986. In 2007, Under Armour founder and CEO Kevin Plank, a Maryland native, purchased the 530-acre farm, where today, it has 40 horses in training – 13 of which are currently racing." Katlyn's job in media,  marketing and events has provided her with a wealth of experience under the expert mentorship of Jocelyn Brooks. From tweeting about the new foals, to creating interest in a bi-weekly newsletter, to helping with Sagamore events, Katlyn has had a busy spring.
