Claudia TontiReminiscent of the former "lunch lessons" the business communication department hosted for several years, 47 House has created a similar program whereby students can learn from professionals in the communication field. Evening Coffee Chats will take place over the next few months, as the club leads up to the annual business mixer, called BizMix, a networking event that takes place annually in March.

Kicking off the series of Coffee Chats is alum Claudia Tonti, who serves as the marketing and public relations coordinator at The Modell Lyric Performing Arts Center in Baltimore. This virtual event will take place the evening of Thursday, November 12, from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Ryan Kenney on the iceBizComm sophomore Ryan Kenny is the "Stang in the Spotlight" in athletics this week. Ryan, who hails from Sparta, New Jersey, plays men's hockey at Stevenson and aspires to play professionally in the future.

According to Ryan, "Playing for Stevenson is extremely special. I love throwing on the Mustang jersey every Friday and Saturday night and going to war with my teammates. Each moment I'm on the ice it's always the best time for me." So far, Ryan's favorite moments at Stevenson include getting to the rink early for practice, beating St. Norbert and playing at Utica College, and taking a course in marketing.

Congratulations on being the spotlight player, and we look forward to seeing you on the ice, Ryan! (Photo from gomustangsports.com)

Alexandra ButtonBizComm graduate Alexandra (Alex) Button was sworn into the U.S. Air Force last week as  Airman First Class. A former athlete and business communication major, it is no surprise that Alex is set to fly in this new endeavor and career. We wish her all the best and are confident she will excel in her new role. Way to go, Alex!

Jackie Cooper's BusinessBizComm graduate Jackie Cooper (2017) has a lot to be smiling about recently. Earlier this year, she graduated with a master’s degree in Marketing from Kogod School of Business at American University. During her time in the business school, she worked as a freelance marketing consultant and created her own business. This week, she launched her business officially with a new website. She enjoys working with clients to help brand their businesses, just as she, herself, has worked to brand her own business. We are excited for Jackie as she takes on the world. Visit her new website at POWERFULPROGRESSION.COM.
