Communication professor Dr. Heather Harris has been named the inaugural chair of the Inclusion, Equity, and Justice Committee on the Public Justice Center (PJC) of Maryland’s Board. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Justice Center, Dr. Harris is committed “to being a force that is pursing systemic change to build a just society, to use legal tools to help people confront legal and institutional barriers that keep them from thriving,” according to the PJC website. The organization challenges oppressive practices and policies through legal advocacy. Here, Dr. Harris speaks at a Stevenson Commencement.
