Congratulations to Business Communication senior Emma Cathy Smith, who not only sang the national anthem and the SU alma mater at this year's convocation ceremony, but now we learn that she was chosen drum major of Stevenson's Marching 100. The band has already enjoyed a week of band camp, preparing to play at convocation and at all home football games, among other events.
The drum major's job is to lead the band during rehearsals and in performance, carrying out the instructions of band director Mark Lortz and other staff members. She has also served in another leadership position as editor-in-chief of The Villager in 2018-2019. Congratulations, EmC! (Photo from Facebook)

What a treat it was to welcome back SU alums and Business Communication majors who volunteered to help move in the class of 2023. Two of the Faculty in the Halls mentors stopped for a moment for a photo with the group, which included (from left) professor Chip Rouse, Kayla Gunn, Caroline Izzi, Lauren Novsak, Olivia Hare, and Dr. Leeanne Bell McManus.
The students and faculty members greeted first-year students and their parents during the August 22 event, helping families to ease the transition while toting boxes, directing traffic, and offering advice. Many thanks to all those who helped out on this very busy day! (Photo from Facebook)
Congratulations to Business Communication major and Stevenson alum Courtney Parto who is starting a new phase of her career as a graduate assistant in Stevenson's Office of Student Success as she pursues a graduate degree through Stevenson University Online.
As a member of the class of 2017, Courtney served as a student ambassador and a resident assistant during her years at SU, and was awarded the John Mitchell prize at Commencement. Welcome home, Courtney!
