Cover of The PostcardBusiness Communication professor Stephanie Verni received notification on May 24 that her most recent work, The Postcard and Other Short Stories & Poetry, received recognition as a finalist in the 13th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards.

Professor Verni noted that this is the fourth time her books have placed in this contest, which gives tribute to independent authors. Her other works of fiction include Beneath the Mimosa Tree, Baseball Girl, and Inn Significant. She is also the co-author (with two of her colleagues in the Business Communication department) of Event Planning: Communicating Theory and Practice. Congratulations from the Business Communication department, Stephanie!

Leeanne Bell McManus at UNCWBusiness Communication professor Leeanne Bell McManus presented research at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington during its biannual IMC (Integrated Marketing Communication) conference, whose theme this year examined  "Current Theory and Practice." Dr. Bell McManus presented her work, co-authored with Stevenson University faculty members Chip Rouse and Stephanie Verni, in a paper titled "Event Planning Theory and Practice." The conference, held May 29-31, 2019, included panel presentations, guest speakers, and roundtable discussions, and was organized by Jeanne Persuit, associate professor, Communication Studies, UNCW.
