Business Communication News

Date: Feb 1, 2018

Beyond the Medium: A Multidisciplinary School of Design Faculty Exhibition opened on Feb. 1, 2018, and Professor Stephanie Verni represented the department of Business Communication with her contribution, which examines the creative process in constructing fiction. Professor Verni has self-published three novels, and talked with guests, including students, about how the writing process typically unfolds.

Congratulations on being a part of the exhibit!

The university's communication club, '47 House, is excited to host tonight's Business Mixer in Rockland from 6 - 8 p.m. We have 10 panelists who are ready to network with our up and coming students.

The panel includes the following wonderful folks who are willing to share their time with us: Marianne Martino (Gaga Marketing), Ian Bohager (ZOLL Medical), Chris Warren (Under Armour), Dayne Turner (W.B. Mason), Megan Mcswain (Chesapeake Conservatory), Amy Nelson (Biohabitats), Jessica Kartalija (CBS Baltimore), Kait Kirkwood (Discovery Communications), Emma Nicole Ragon (Whiting-Turner), Adam Oberfeld (entrepreneur). Thank you in advance, panelists!

Business Communication graduate McLane ("Lanie") Swanhart got a bit of spotlight on her career in a monthly publication, The Sun Beam, sponsored by The OutGrowth, an organization that links "student leaders of tomorrow with socially-conscious farms of today through immersive, out-of-the-office internships."  In it, Lanie explains how she came to her job as the marketing and social media manager at South Mountain Creamery, and offers advice to students considering careers in small business. As she notes in the article, "Looking for ways to merge your abilities and your sources of joy will be instrumental in shaping your professional landscape."
