Communication News

Date: Oct 2018

Business Communication faculty members Dr. Leeanne Bell McManus and Chip Rouse, Faculty in the Halls mentors for Western Run Hall, planned a night of decorating "Spooky Cupcakes" with the residents in preparation for Halloween. It was a recipe for lots of fun and creativity!

Business Communication alum Emily Rosenthal continues her reporting and photography career with the Catholic Review, a monthly magazine and weekly online reporting site that serves as the newspaper of record for the Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore. Her latest articles, appearing in the November Review, focus on parish service and communities. Emily was the editor-in-chief of The Villager while she attended Stevenson University. Interested readers can find some of her articles here.

Students in Stevenson's Event Planning class, under the direction of communication adjunct faculty member Chris Daley, were on hand on Friday, Oct. 26, to help with "Pumpkins on the Green," the Irvine Nature Center's annual charity fundraiser event. Posted one student, senior Molly Myers, about her experience: "It was an honor to work with Irvine Nature Center for their 10th annual Pumpkins on the Green event this year. This is an event that my event planning class helped with and it was honestly a rewarding experience. Seeing how the inner workings of an event of this size played out allowed me to learn more than I was expecting!"

Congratulations to the class for their hard work and contribution!

All are invited to attend. Dr. Janelle Wong is a professor of American Studies and a faculty member in the Asian American Studies Program at the University of Maryland. Her Stevenson University host, Dr. Heather Harris, is a professor of Business Communication.

Chris Daley, adjunct instructor in business communication, hosted Adam Kirr, the chief marketing officer and partner for the Charm City Bluegrass Festival, as he shared his experiences with Daley's Event Planning & Publicity class at Stevenson University on Oct. 25, 2018. Established in 2013, the festival takes place each April in Baltimore, and features local, regional, and national musicians.
