Communication News

This year the Lambda Pi Eta honor society and members of the Business Communication department participated in Relay for Life in honor of Professor Christine Noya, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The name of the team was Chris' Kako’o, which means Chris’ Supporters in Hawaiian, which coincides with the Luau theme of Relay in 2017. Many members of the department, including some of the professors, joined the team and helped the fight against cancer in honor of our beloved professor. The team raised over $2,800 for Relay and the American Cancer Society.
The Advanced Event Planning class, under the direction of Business Communication professor Dr. Leeanne Bell McManus, collaborated with the Offices of Alumni Affairs and Athletics to host VillaFest, a spring fling event welcoming alumni, students, parents, staff, faculty and friends of the university. The weather cooperated, offering lots of sun and cool breezes, and all of the monies raised during the event were donated to the Cool Kids Campaign, under the management of CEO and SU alum Chris Federico.
Stevenson alums came back to visit, the beach volleyball team had a great tournament, and lots of good sports (including Dr. Bell McManus and student Steven Thomas --seen below) took their turn in the dunk tank. It was a day filled with lighthearted happiness. Congratulations to all who helped make the day a success! (Photos from the Alumni Office and various Facebook pages)
