Business Communication News

Date: Sep 22, 2016

The university's competitive Mock Trial team that is associated with AMTA (American Mock Trial Association) is entering its fifth year of competition, and for the first time, the team held tryouts open to all majors. Congratulations to BizComm Lindsay Somuah who earned one of nine spots on the team! They will attend their first invitational tournament at Temple Law School Nov. 5-6 and then will host an invitational tournament at Stevenson in the Brown School of Business and Leadership the weekend of Jan. 28-29 with 16 teams participating.  UMBC, Stevenson, Maryland, Washington & Lee, Hopkins, Georgetown, Patrick Henry, Seton Hall, North Carolina, Haverford and American are the fortunate participants.  Melanie K. Snyder, Esq., professor of law, writes, "We are envisioning Lindsay to be a lead attorney in several trials, and we are thrilled to have her on board!" Way to go, Lindsay!

Two Lambda Pi Eta members, Jackie Cooper and Kim Hahr (l-r), stepped up to help Business Communication faculty members Chris Noya and Chip Rouse cover the Majors and Minors Fair on Sept. 22. The two students answered questions from those curious about the major and interacted with a number of students still trying to decide on a major. Lambda Pi Eta students perform service to the university and to the department as part of their membership. Thank you, ladies!
