Communication News

Date: Apr 28, 2016
Senior Megan McSwain is interning this semester under the supervision of Stephanie Verni, professor of Business Communication at Stevenson. Megan has assisted in a variety of tasks including research for course presentation, social media for the Eastern Communication Association convention, preparation of lesson plans for teaching assistance, and a variety of other departmental design tasks. Megan has been a tremendous asset to the department during her time as an intern.

Graduate student Samantha Perillo and junior Kristen Brooks, both Business Communication majors, are enjoying their first season playing on Stevenson's Division III sand volleyball team. At Stevenson's only home meet of the inaugural season, the two took a minute in the shade adjacent to the new courts to prepare for their next set. Most of the team's games have been played against Division I and II teams in the relatively new NCAA sport. Sophomore Lauren Weaver also joins the two representing the department on the team.

The department of Business Communication was ready for student visitors and their families during the final Admission Open House of the semester. Though the infamous Candy Bar treats had waned, the department was nevertheless ready to present guests with some sweet  souvenirs of their visit. Freshman Lauren Novsak was on hand to help out the faculty for the event.

Who says you can't go home again? Senior Annie McCoach has, returning for her internship to her secondary school, Maryvale Preparatory School in Brooklandville. Working with the staff of the advancement office under the supervision of Heather Harlan-Warnack, director of communications and development (left), and with Libby Nagle, the director of reunion and gift planning (center), Annie has participated in a variety of admissions, development. and communication endeavors. She has particularly enjoyed meeting prospective students along the tour route and working with the development team to broaden Maryvale's reach.
