Congratulations to junior Lanie Swanhart, a member of the SU cross country team,  and to BizComm alum Tom McGonigal ('05), who participated in the first-ever cross country race run at Stevenson University, the Twilight Tune Up. Swanhart finished the 4K in just over 16 minutes, ending as one of the top-10 finishers and helping Stevenson to a third-place finish. McGonigal, who served as an assistant cross country coach after he graduated, was thrilled to have a chance to run the course even as an alum, with a time of just over 17 minutes. Here's to you, our speedy BizComm runners! (Photos courtesy of Carol Zimmerman and Tom McGonigal)

The First-Year Seminar class welcomed back four BizComm alums who talked to the class about their career paths after graduating. From left, Ali Winer talked about her career with CBS radio; Bill Ritson spoke about his many roles in the field of advertising; Hayley Gable Bowerman, the managing editor of the Pasadena Voice, talked about journalism as a possible path; and Brandon Scott spoke about working in recruitment for the Y of central Maryland.

Their tales were filled with insights about their days as students, their internships, their professional mentors, and their futures. The faculty of the department were thrilled to see them again and share in their success stories. Associate professor Stephanie Verni arranged for the visits.
