Biology and Environmental Science News

In this outdoor lab activity, environmental chemistry students were conducting measurements of dissolved oxygen concentration in Gwynns Falls, a stream behind the Owings Mills North campus. Dissolved oxygen is one of the parameters used to assess water quality, and it indicates the ability of a given water body to sustain aquatic life.

Sarah Walsh has joined the SU community as a Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences from her previous faculty position at North Carolina State in Raleigh. Mrs. Walsh is teaching Anatomy and General Biology Laboratory. She is very excited about the opportunity to work at a smaller university that offers more hands-on experience and one-on-one interactions with the students.  She has enjoyed getting to know all of her students and looks forward to watching them progress during their academic career at Stevenson. Welcome to SU Mrs. Walsh!

Dixie Hoyle, a 2014 Biology graduate is currently working as a Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University in the School of Medicine, Division of Hematology, studying heart disease....Click here to read more.

After joining Stevenson for a one year visiting faculty position in 2014, Dr. Danna is now a full-time Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences. Dr. Danna is teaching Anatomy and General Biology Laboratory this semester. Prior to Stevenson, Dr. Danna was a faculty member at the Community College of Baltimore County and Howard Community College. Dr. Danna has really enjoyed teaching and interacting with the students at SU and she is looking forward to getting to discuss biology with both students and faculty that are interested in the field. Welcome to SU Dr. Danna!
