Applied Mathematics News

Welcome to Gerald Roman, an incoming freshman in Math fhis fall. Gerald is from Perry Hall and is looking forward to living in the residence halls this fall. Gerald is very excited to be studying math and enjoys programming computers. Welcome to the Department of Math and Physical Sciences, Gerald!

One of our incoming Applied Math majors is Marcuss Beverly. Marcuss joins us from Randallstown. He likes that SU is close to his home and looks forward to his college years. Duriing Mustang Day, all future SU commuters entered a raffle drawing for prizes and Marcuss was the recipient of a tablet! In his spare time, Marcuss enjoys playing dodge ball and video games. Welcome to Math, Marcuss!

Welcome to the new applied math students who are joining us this fall! All new freshmen came to campus for a day in June to participate in activities to meet other incoming students, to hear about the upcoming school year, to meet faculty in the department, and to register for classes.

The School of the Sciences was excited to host its annual Summer Science Camp for middle school students. Faculty and student helpers participated in delivering exciting sessions on Astronomy, Robotics, Biochemistry, Environmental Science and Forensic Science. A great time was had by all!

Congratulations to our 2014 Applied Math graduates! We're proud of each of you and excited to watch you leave SU and begin your careers. Best wishes to Applied Math Major Jenna Carr. Jenna is the third sibling in her family to graduate from SU. She is shown here with her sister, Mandi Carr, who is a chemist, and department chair, Dr. Ellen Roskes.

Jenna completed her Capstone Internship at the US Census Bureau. Based on the excellent job she did in her internship, Jenna was hired there as a fulltime employee. We'll miss you, Jenna, but know you will be successful in this exciting position!
