Students and faculty in the Math Department were excited to participate in Scholars' Day 2015. Prospective applied math majors visited SU and learned about our program and the various careers that our alumni are pursuing. We were excited to have them participate in a fun computer activity- Torus Games: An Introduction to Topology. We hope to see many of them as freshmen in the fall!
Faculty and staff in the School of the Sciences showed their support for National Wear Red Day on February 6th. This day, started in 2004 by the American Heart Association, educates women on the dangers of heard disease and ways to support increased research and funding towards the treatment of heart disease.
Senior Chelsea Cavey worked with SU adjunct faculty member, Chris Motsiopoulos, Director of the Office of Statistical Analysis and Support at Social Security Administration for her internship experience. She loved her internship and learned a lot. As part of her work there, Chelsea studied disability insurance provided by private insurance companies and Social Security. She explained that this internship will help her as she embarks on her career after graduation in May. Chelsea presented her work at the School of the Sciences poster session in December.
