Michio Kaku is a theoretical physicist, best-selling author, and a popularizer of science. He helped found the string field theory and he continues Einstein's search to unite the four fundamental forces of nature into one unified theory that will summarize all physical laws of the universe. Dr. Kaku was also featured in the full-length 90 minute feature film Me and Isaac Newton, which was nominated for an Emmy in 2001. In 2008, he also became a host on the Discovery Channel, hosting their Sunday lineup of shows. He currently hosts a national weekly radio program called “Science Fantastic” that airs in 130 cities across the US.

Dr. Kaku will be coming to Stevenson during the day on November 17th, 2015 around lunchtime. Be on the lookout for more information!

All Applied Mathematics majors were offered an ice cream break during the day on Monday. This sweet opportunity included ice cream, frozen yogurt, sprinkles, toppings, and relaxing conversation! Freshman in attendance were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and get to know other students and faculty across the department.  Everyone enjoys a break every once in a while, and our applied mathematics program recognizes how hard both the students and dedicated faculty work during the week!

Lauren Rose (BS '15) is the first Stevenson Applied Mathematics graduate who was in the 5 year BS/MS program in Applied Math and Forensic Studies, Forensic Accounting track.
