Applied Math Senior, Nick Cassera, is completing a research project as his Capstone research, working with faculty member, Dr. Michelle Ivey. Nick is using the GaussView Program which allows our students to make 3d models of molecules to calculate physical properties. He is testing different methods to determine which is best for students to use in their experiments.
Dr. Sarah Blanset is another new math faculty member we welcomed this year! Dr. Blanset has spent the last three years teaching mathematics at another college. Here at Stevenson, she is teaching a statistics class as well as Calculus III. She attended Amherst College for her undergrad and then received her PhD from the University of Notre Dame. She will be participating in research in combinatorics and logic with a few different projects. Dr. Blanset truly looks forward to meeting more students and getting to know the math majors she will be working with in the coming years!
Dr. Benjamin Wilson, a new Assistant Professor of Mathematics, earned his PhD in Mathematics from North Carolina University at Chapel Hill, and is excited to be a faculty member at SU. "I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students, especially, the incoming Applied Math majors in the New Student Seminar, as well as the seniors in the Capstone course." We are very excited to welcome Dr. Benjamin Wilson to SU and know he will inspire many students!
