Students, faculty and staff in Department of Mathematics and in the School of the Sciences mourn the loss of Dr. Christopher Barat, longtime math faculty member at Stevenson.  He passed away last week after a brief and sudden complication from a kidney transplant.

Dr. Barat was a very bright, gentle and caring man.  He loved Stevenson and cared about each of his students.  Dr. Barat earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.  He had over 25 years of experience in undergraduate education and taught a variety of statistics courses to many Stevenson students.  He will always be remembered for his concern for students and his love of SU.  Dr. Barat started a chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME), a math honor society at SU.  He and his wife, Nicky, spent many hours working on projects with KME.  They also attended many sports events and were involved with students in the Campus Catholic Ministries.

As a valued and well-liked math faculty member, Dr. Christopher Barat is missed by everyone.
